Go Backstage With the Cast and Crew of Footloose

April 20, 2017

Academy’s spring musical, Footloose took over the Brady Center stage April 6 through the 9th. The show’s director, Vivian Kimbler added an unusual gender twist to the story to accommodate for a cast with a majority of girls. In this version of the 1980’s classic Footloose, Ren McCormack was played by junior Gracie Wipfli as Remi McCormack and other popular characters were switched to female roles, such as Willard Hewitt, played by senior Lizzie Dolan,  who was transformed into Stephanie Hewitt. So much more than what is showcased on stage happens to make this play come to life such as script details, sets, costumes, backstage crew, choreography, and the many hours it takes to perfect a scene. Here is a backstage scoop into the biggest week of the year for Academy’s theatre department.
