The Awards Ceremony after the Cross Out Cancer 5k was an emotional event; everyone there was overjoyed to see what a difference they had made.

On November 21st, an AHN High School student Lizzie Dolan finally got to see her dream of a 5k fundraising cancer in the flesh. Cross Out Cancer, Inc. is “a Tampa based nonprofit organization devoted to raising money to support the needs of pediatric oncology patients and their families at All Children’s Hospital,” according to Dolan.  The organization’s Facebook page states that: “Cross Country high schoolers are putting rivalries aside to raise money for families who cannot afford cancer treatment at All Children’s Hospital.” Many Tampa high school Cross Country captains joined with Dolan and formed a board to make this 5k a successful event. The whole event was flawlessly executed– if I may say so– with every little aspect from the venue (Picnic Island Park) to the swag bags (plastic gift bags filled with a tshirt, freebies, and swag) completely organized. However, don’t just take it from me. Listen to what these people have to say from the race:

Thanks to every Academy student and family member who signed up for the race. AHN had the most participants out of all the schools such as Jesuit, Plant, Tampa Prep, Berkeley, and more! The 5k raised a total of $42,919.44 towards All Children’s Pediatric Cancer. Congratulations to Dolan and everyone who made this wonderful event possible.
