At 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6, senior athletes Emily Abdoney, Caitlin Neal, and Brianna Benito signed with their colleges to continue their academic and athletic careers.

Abdoney signed to play Division I soccer at Belmont University, which is located in Nashville, Tennessee.

Abdoney says, “I committed soon after I visited the campus around Christmas time last year [2017]. I instantly loved the girls on team, the coaches, and the campus. I am really excited to be a part of a whole new team with new friends and to be living in Nashville.”

Abdoney plans to major in biology for future pre-medical sciences.

Neal is committed to play tennis at Middlebury College in Vermont. For Division III sports, there is not a letter to sign. Therefore, Neal participated and was honored in the ceremony, but did not sign a formal paper.

Neal says, “I committed to Middlebury on October 30, 2018. I was drawn to Middlebury because it was my favorite school I visited out of the four schools I went to on official visits. I got along with the team really well and could see myself there. I loved the campus and the mix of strong academics and tennis. I am most excited to experience living in a new environment and playing college tennis.”

Middlebury Women’s Tennis Team had an overall record of 17 losses and four wins for the 2017-18 season.

Benito signed with Barry University, found in Miami, Florida, for volleyball. She has been playing volleyball since she was 11 years old.

Benito says, “I commited to Barry in October of 2018 after I went on my official visit. I have family that lives in Miami and have always loved the city. The school is small and has a family environment that I think is perfect for me. I connected well with the players and the coaches and cannot wait to go down in August for preseason.”
